Did you know it only takes 1/10 of an inch of rain on a traditional 1000 square foot roof to fill up a 55 gallon rain barrel. 1 inch of rain will give you 1000 gallons!
Imagine all that free water that you are just letting go to waste, when it's right there for you to collect extremely easily and very inexpensively.
Our rain barrels start out their lives as high quality food grade 55 or 62 gallon barrels which are then recycled into the rain barrels.
Each barrel has holes drilled into the removable lid covered by a screen to keep mosquitoes and debris out. At the bottom you will find a brass fitting that fits your standard garden hose, and at the top there is an overflow which allows you to redirect excess water via a 11/2" pvc pipe .
The lids of our barrels are removable! Many that you might see available are not. This makes it extremely easy to clean or to dump a bucket in. .
Rain barrels will typically run you anywhere from $65 up to $150 for a barrel this size. Mine are the highest quality you will find and I am sensibly pricing them at only $60.00(55gal) or $70.00(62gal). We also install them call for pricing.
We make our own rain barrels right here in Greensboro, NC.
Please contact me, Roger Blevins, if you have any question. I have many rain barrels currently made and bring in more to covert in relation to demand. Please contact me to see what I have in stock or when I can have your very own rain barrel made for you. Turnaround time is very short if I am currently out of stock.
Do you have a custom request?....absolutely no problem. Let me know what you're thinking and I will be happy to explore it and let you know if it can be done.
What is a Rain Barrel?
A rain barrel is used to catch water flowing from your gutters. Rain Barrels reduce the amount of storm water runoff by collecting roof runoff and storing the water for future use.
How Does it Work?
The rain barrel is placed near a roof downspout outlet. The barrel is then connected to the downspout by a section of elbow pipe. Runoff is diverted into the rain barrel via the downspout.
Maintaining a Rain Barrel
Rain barrels are relatively maintenance free.
Position the rain barrel at an area close to the downspout, where land slopes away from the foundation. Standing water can be a favorable place for mosquitoes, please take these precautions to reduce mosquito breeding habitat.
Keep your barrel free of organic material.
One tablespoon of olive oil in your water will keep mosquitoes from breeding in the barrel.
Water quality ? rain barrel water quality is not a major concern unless the water is intended to be consumed. Please do not use as a potable water source. Children and pets should not be allowed to drink from the rain barrel.
